Pinning Etiquette

In case you’re not already aware, Pinterest is basically an online bulletin board of your favorite images and videos. It’s social bookmarking with a more visual element, allowing you to organize images — whether that be home decor, design, food, travel, wedding inspiration, the possibilities are really endless — into “pinboards” that you create and categorize.

This "digital pin board" has been around for more than 2 years, but has been making some big buzz this year. Time Magazine calls it, one of the 50 Best Websites of 2011.

What is a Pin?
A pin is an image added to Pinterest. A pin can be added from a website using the Pin It button, or you can upload images from your computer. Each pin added using the Pin It button links back to the site it came from.

Pinning Etiquette

  1. Give credit and include a thoughtful pin description.
  2. Pin from permalinks.
  3. Pin from the original source.
  4. Follow boards & like stuff! (ie, interact)
  5. Comment when you have something nice to say.
